Vol. 126 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Establishment of Industries.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware of the urgent necessity for establishing industries in the towns of Killorglin and Cahirciveen, and whether, in view of the fact that large deposits of peat are available in the areas adjacent to these towns, he will have the possibility of the manufacture of by-products from these peat deposits investigated.

I should be very glad to assist any sound project for the establishment of industries at Killorglin and Cahirciveen, the need for which I fully appreciate. The possibility of the manufacture of by-products from peat is engaging attention and, should any manufacturing proposals eventuate, the attention of the promoters will be directed to the suitability of the peat supplies in that area.
