Vol. 126 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Establishment of Dispensaries.

andMr. M.P. Murphy asked the Minister for Health if he will state the present position regarding the provision of a suitable dispensary depot at Tarelton, Macroom, County Cork.

In August, 1949, Cork County Council submitted a proposal for the provision of a dispensary depot at Tarelton and subsequently the council were notified that steps might be taken by them to acquire premises for this purpose. Since then, the local authority have been endeavouring to obtain suitable accommodation without success. I shall communicate with the council with a view to having the matter further examined.

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware of the very unsatisfactory condition of the dispensary at New Ross ; and, if so, if he will indicate what immediate steps are to be taken to have a proper dispensary established there.

I am aware of the unsatisfactory condition of the dispensary at New Ross.

A proposal has been received from the local authority to purchase a house in the town for use as a dispensary. While these premises are not regarded as being altogether satisfactory, the local authority is being informed that provided it is satisfied that a more suitable premises cannot be acquired in the town, no objection will be raised to the proposed purchase if the purchase price, as finally negotiated, is reasonable.
