Vol. 126 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Military Service Pensions Applications.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state the number of applications received, under the Military Service Pensions (Amendment) Act, 1949, from No. 3 Brigade, 1st Northern Division, and how soon these applicants may expect a hearing.

The segregation of the applications received has not been completed and it is not possible, therefore, at this stage to supply the information requested by the Deputy in the first part of the question.

The question of fixing a date for the hearing of these cases is a matter for the Referee, Advisory Committee and Board of Assessors and it cannot be stated at present when arrangements can be made to have the cases heard.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will extend the time for receiving applications under the Military Service Pensions (Amendment) Act, 1949.

I presume that the Deputy is referring to the acceptance of new applications.

I have not had an opportunity, so far, of giving this matter my attention but I hope to have it considered at an early date.
