Vol. 126 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sale of Veterinary Products.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that members of the farming community are being approached, direct, by salesmen of veterinary products and animal medicines and that where sales are effected, it is found in many instances that these products do not turn out to be as represented; and, if so, if he will consider ensuring that such preparations will in future be prepared and marketed in accordance with standards prescribed by his Department.

I am aware that the uncontrolled sale of preparations purporting to be veterinary remedies is open to abuse. This matter has been under consideration by my Department and proposals for legislation are at present being examined.
