Vol. 126 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Establishment of Creamery.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he has received representations from local farmers to have a creamery established at Ahid-hill, near Enniskean, County Cork; and, if so, if he will state whether he has given favourable consideration to this request and the nature of the decision reached.

Mr. Walsh

If the Deputy is referring to Aghyohil, I have received no representations regarding the provision of creamery facilities there. I have, however, received representations purporting to be on behalf of an association of local farmers in regard to the provision of a creamery in the townland of Kilnameela (which is in the vicinity of Aghyohil) and the matter is at present under investigation. The provision of creamery facilities is, of course, primarily one for a local co-operative creamery society, but I may say that I have received no application from any society for a licence under the Creamery Act, 1928, to operate a new cream-separating station in this area.
