Vol. 126 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rationing of Butter.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state whether he is aware that Mitchelstown Co-operative Creameries have rationed supplies to one quarter pound of unrationed butter per week; and, if so, whether this has been done in accordance with departmental or ministerial Order.

Mr. Walsh

If the Deputy is referring to the special extra allowance of butter to suppliers of milk to creameries, the answer to the first part of the question is that I am aware that the Mitchelstown Co-operative Society, in common with the other creameries, is issuing the extra allowance at the rate of 4 oz. a week for each member of the household. This figure was approved by the previous Government but I am prepared to consider sympathetically any case where it can be shown to be unduly low.
