Vol. 126 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Remuneration of Cow-Testing Supervisors.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is now in a position to say what his attitude is to the demand from cow-testing supervisors for an increase in their remuneration which has been before his Department for some years.

Mr. Walsh

I have not yet had an opportunity of looking into this matter as fully as I would wish, but I propose to examine the whole position as soon as possible.

Would the Minister consider granting some kind of interim increase to these people while the investigation is going on?

It is a long time going on.

Yes, it is a long time going on.

Mr. Walsh

The question of an increase for supervisors has been under consideration for a long time, and I have not yet had the opportunity to go into the matter as fully as I wish. I will do so as soon as I have the opportunity.

I think the Minister did not get the drift of my supplementary. I am asking him if he would consider granting these people some kind of increase in their salaries while the investigation is going on?

Mr. Walsh

We will consider that.
