Mr. O'Higgins

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission have considered the propriety of acquiring for division amongst smallholders the Thompson estate at Frey, Springfield, Laois; and, if so, with what result.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state what progress, if any, has been made since the reply to the question on the Order Paper of the 28th February, 1950, concerning the acquisition of the Mylott and Bleahan lands at Ardour, Kilconley, County Galway.

Since the date of the previous question, negotiations as to price were undertaken in the case of the Mylott estate, and, in default of agreement, the price will be fixed by the Land Commission, subject to appeal. In the case of the Bleahan estate, the owner's application for an exchange has been refused and the Land Commission are awaiting the outcome of their decision, which is also subject to appeal.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will cause immediate inspection of the lands of Mrs. Dunne at Aghagurthy, Clareen, Birr, and Ballymacmurragh, Kinnitty, Birr, with a view to division amongst local deserving applicants for land and local smallholders with low valuations, and if he will take immediate action in the matter.

The determination of the actual lands to be acquired or resumed and the initiation of inquiries and inspections as a preliminary to such determination, are reserved functions of the Land Commission. The Deputy's representations will be brought to the notice of the Land Commission.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the lands at Aughafin, Moate, owned by Mr. James Gaynor, have been acquired by the Land Commission; and, if so, when it is proposed to have these lands divided.

Proceedings were instituted for the resumption of the lands in question. The owner lodged an appeal against resumption and the Land Commission have reserved their judgment on it for the present.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the lands at Ballinalack, Mount Temple, Moate, formerly owned by Johnson and subsequently by Allen, have been acquired by the Land Commission; and, if so, when it is proposed to have these lands divided.

The Land Commission had inquiries made regarding the lands in question and decided to take no further action for their acquisition.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the lands at Fossaugh, Mount Temple, Moate, County Westmeath, formerly owned by James Darcy and subsequently owned by Patrick Dolan, have been acquired by the Land Commission, and if not yet acquired if he will state when they will be acquired for division.

The Land Commission have not acquired the lands of Fossaugh on the Dolan estate. The question of the acquisition of the lands was considered, but it was decided to take no further action for the present.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission have inspected the lands of the late John W. McLean at Lisiniska, Knockmor, Ballina, County Mayo; and, if so, what steps have been taken for the requisition of those lands and their division in this very congested district.

The Land Commission have not inspected the estate in question, nor have they any proposals for its acquisition.

asked the Minister for Lands whether and, if so, what steps have been or propose to be taken to acquire the Kelly holding (O'Malley estate) situated at Boherglass, Straide, County Mayo.

It has not been possible to identify this holding, but if the Deputy supplies me with further particulars I will have the matter investigated again.
