Vol. 127 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Carriage Rates on Fish.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will endeavour to get preferential carriage rates on sprat fish shipped from Inver, County Donegal, to Manchester, and thereby ensure that an economic price is paid to the fishermen.

In July last my Department supported a request made to the shipping company concerned by the firm interested in the export of Inver sprats to Leeds for a reduction in transport charges on such fish and as a result a reduction of approximately 25 per cent. for lots not less than 60 cwt. was secured.
