Vol. 127 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kerry Boat Slip.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that the boat slip at Ventry, Dingle, County Kerry, is badly in need of repairs; and, if so, if he will now consider making a special grant towards the reconstruction work.

The proposal to construct a landing place for fishermen at Ventry was fully investigated several years ago, and my Office was then advised that the cost of the work would be out of all proportion to its utility. So far as I am aware, the position in this respect is unchanged.

In view of the fact that this is part of the Gaeltacht district and that we hear so much about the Gaeltacht, would the Parliamentary Secretary not consider giving a free grant in this case?

This matter was investigated. There are certain difficulties obtaining in regard to all these marine works which have not yet been overcome, but the whole position is being examined.

By the Central Bank is it?
