Vol. 127 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - New School.

asked the Minister for Education if any representations have been made to his Department requesting the building of a new school at Castleconnell, County Limerick, where existing school accommodation is altogether inadequate, and where a large number of pupils who cannot be accommodated are transferred to a village hall that is insanitary and unsuitable in every respect; and, if so, what action he proposes to take in the matter.

I am aware of the need for the erection of new schools to replace the present Castleconnell Boys' and Girls' National Schools, County Limerick, in which the accommodation is inadequate for the requirements. The Department has been in communication with the manager with a view to having a site made available for new schools, but so far the manager has not succeeded in obtaining a suitable plot for the purpose. The case is receiving the close attention of the Department but no progress can be made until a suitable site has been provided.
