Vol. 127 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sterling Assets.

asked the Taoiseach if the Central Statistics Office is in a position to make available a table showing the estimated total (a) net and (b) gross sterling assets for each of the years 1938, 1944 to 1951 inclusive, giving in each instance an estimated break-down of the sterling assets held by (a) Central Bank; (b) Government Departments and agencies; (c) the Joint Stock Banks and (d) other firms, corporations and persons resident in Ireland; and showing the method of computation whereby the figures shown for the net sterling assets in each case are arrived at.

The Central Statistics Office is not in a position to add anything to the information given by the Minister for Finance in his reply on 8th November, 1951, to a similar question asked by the Deputy.
