Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Radio Éireann Talks.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will make available the script of a talk on political matters given from Radio Éireann on the 3rd November by Mr. Brian Inglis in view of the suggestion that this talk advocated the restriction of the right of members of the Dáil to table questions on matters of public interest.

It would be contrary to the standing practice of many years to make broadcasting scripts available outside the broadcasting service and I do not propose to alter that practice. As regards the latter part of the question, any observations made in the talk referred to about the system of Dáil questions were the purely personal views of the commentator, and I think it is a very good thing that such matters should be discussed as freely on the radio as in newspapers or in any other discussions.
