Vol. 127 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Project.

Mr. O'Higgins

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he will state in relation to both County Laoighis and County Offaly the total amount of money expended to date on the land project and the number of applications outstanding.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state the number of farmers with holdings under £25 poor law valuation who have requested his Department to carry out schemes for them under the land project since its commencement, the number of such schemes approved, the number carried out and the total moneys expended.

With your permission, a Chinn Chomhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 100 and 118 together.

Statistical information on the lines asked for in both questions is not available and the expenditure of the considerable amount of official time which the compilation of such special statistics would necessitate would not be justified.

Mr. O'Higgins

Is the Minister aware that similar questions were always answered by his predecessor?

I am not aware of it. In fact, they were not answered by my predecessor.

Mr. O'Higgins

Does the Minister, perhaps, continue the system of his predecessor whereby, from time to time, details of the work done by the land rehabilitation scheme are circulated to Deputies?
