Vol. 127 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wheat Prices.

Mr. O'Higgins

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he is aware that there is considerable dissatisfaction in the price and grading announced for wheat in relation to other agricultural prices; and, if so, whether he will reconsider the wheat price announced by him.

I am aware that whatever price is fixed there will always be some who are dissatisfied with it. It is considered that the price fixed for millable wheat of the 1952 crop will give farmers a satisfactory margin of profit.

Mr. O'Higgins

I asked the Minister whether he is aware that there is considerable dissatisfaction in the price and grading announced for wheat. I would like an answer to that question.

I have said that there will always be dissatisfaction.

Mr. O'Higgins

The question which I have addressed to the Minister for Agriculture asks whether he is aware that there is considerable dissatisfaction in relation to this price-fixing. The Minister has replied to a question other than the one I have asked.

How would I know whether there is dissatisfaction?

Mr. O'Higgins

Because it is your job to know it.
