Vol. 128 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Meath Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the number of estates acquired by the Land Commission in County Meath since the emergency, the total acreage and the names and situations of those estates.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the total acreage of lands allotted in County Meath since the emergency to new tenants.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state how many migrants were placed in new holdings in County Meath since the emergency and the number of new holdings allotted to Meathmen.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle I will take together Questions Nos. 31, 32 and 33.

I presume these questions relate to the post-war period and as the Land Commission records are compiled according to financial years, I will give the particulars for the period 1st April, 1946, to 31st October, 1951. In that period the Land Commission took possession of 5,446 acres on 66 estates or holdings in County Meath and allotted 4,038 acres to 287 allottees. Of these allottees 34 were migrants from other counties and the others were local eligible persons or bodies.
