Vol. 128 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Meath Estates.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that the untenanted estate of Mrs. McCann at Gallow, Kilcock, County Meath, was purchased recently by an outsider, who has already a great deal of land, and if, owing to the sparsely populated locality where this estate is situated, the Land Commission have decided to allow this sale to go through or to have the estate divided.

I understand that this estate has been sold. The question of allowing the sale did not arise as the Land Commission had no statutory or other control in the matter. The Land Commission have no proceedings for the acquisition of the lands but they are having inquiries made.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that the estate of the late Colonel Purdon at Ardrums Agher, Enfield, County Meath, will soon be on the market for sale; and if, owing to the sparsely populated district in which it is located, the Land Commission have decided to have it acquired and allotted to suitable applicants and uneconomic holders.

I am not aware of the owner's intentions regarding this estate. The Land Commission have no proceedings in respect of the lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the final decision by the Land Commission regarding the acquisition of the estate of the late Mr. Gasteen at Clonard. Hill of Down, County Meath.

Proceedings have been instituted for the acquisition and resumption of these lands. Objections to acquisition and petitions against resumption have been heard in the Land Commission Court and judgment has been reserved.
