Vol. 128 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tourist Policy.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if the recent visit of Mr. Robert K. Christenberry was at the invitation of the Government or of the Minister, and whether Mr. Christenberry made a report or recommendation on any aspect of tourist policy; and, if so, if he will publish the report or recommendation.

The visit was made on my invitation for the purpose of discussing matters arising out of the report made by Mr. Christenberry and his colleagues on their survey here. There was no question of a further report and none has been made, Mr. Christenberry's recommendations remain as in the synthesis which has already been published. I had a general exchange of views with him on the steps that might be taken to stimulate tourism and I have taken account of these views, amongst others, in the proposals which I will submit to the Dáil early in the New Year.

Did Mr. Christenberry express any views on the establishment of the new publicity board?

Yes. That was one of the matters discussed.
