Vol. 129 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Electricity Supplies.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will make representations to the Electricity Supply Board to extend their electricity service to the convent at Ballyferriter where a knitting industry employing 15 girls is run and where, if light and power were available, a large number of hands could be employed and, further, if he will ask the board to extend the supply to the area generally.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that it is not possible to provide supply to the Ballyferriter area until the board's net work has been extended from Tralee to Dingle. I am also informed that this extension is at present being investigated and that when supply is available at Dingle the Ballyferriter area will be considered for development under the rural electrification scheme.
