Vol. 129 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Price Rings.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he will state (a) if the price rings, of which he has complained, still continue their activities; (b) the trades or businesses in which he believes them to be operating, and (c) whether or not such reprehensible practices are becoming more extensive.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply which I gave to a somewhat similar question on this subject in Dáil Éireann on the 22nd November, 1951. I feel that there is nothing I can usefully add, at present, to the reply I gave on that occasion.

Does the Minister contemplate introducing legislation to deal with restrictive practices in the near future?

Yes, but it may be six weeks or two months before the legislation is ready.

Will the Minister undertake, when introducing the Bill, to deal with the issues contained in the question?

The Bill will deal with the issues contained in it.
