asked the Minister for Defence if he will state how many men were discharged from the regular services from January, 1947, up to 31st December, 1951, suffering from tuberculosis.

During the period 1st January, 1947 to 31st December, 1951, four officers and 88 N.C.O.s and men were discharged from the permanent force suffering from tuberculosis.

Does the Minister realise that tuberculosis is at times latent, that some of these men contracted it while serving during the emergency but that it did not become apparent until later and that they are now being deprived of a pension because the disease was not discovered during the four-year period? Would he consider extending——

This question simply asks the number discharged during a certain period.
