Vol. 129 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unemployment in Dublin Docks.

Mr. Byrne

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will have inquiries made into the continual and growing unemployment in the Dublin docks area.

Because of the fluctuating nature of port work there is always a certain amount of unemployment amonst dock workers, but I can find no evidence to suggest that there is growing unemployment in the Dublin docks area.

Mr. Byrne

Is the Minister aware that there is growing unemployment in the building trade and among the building suppliers of that district?

Building?

Mr. Byrne

Unemployment is growing among the building suppliers who have their headquarters at the North Wall. Would the Minister make inquiries to see whether that continued unemployment can be checked?

The Deputy's question to me relates to dock workers.

It relates to the Dublin docks area.
