Vol. 129 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Water Supply Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state (a) what stage of progress, if any, has been reached in regard to the North County Dublin regional water supply scheme and (b) what areas this scheme will service.

Tenders have been accepted by the Dublin County Council for two of the three sections of the scheme to serve the high level areas of Ballymun, Finglas, Blanchardstown and Castleknock. The council have invited tenders for the remaining section, viz., the construction of Ballycoolan reservoir.

Proposals for the sections of the scheme to serve the low level areas of Coolock, Portmarnock and Malahide are at present under consideration by the council. The laying of a main from Balcurris to Coolock has been approved and will be carried out as an extra on one of the existing contracts.

Commencement of work on the contracts already placed has been held up pending delivery of materials and fittings.
