If, as I take it, the Deputy is referring to that measure of nationalisation which is provided for in the Fisheries Act, 1939, I am of opinion that the provisions of that Act require some modification in the light of present-day conditions so as to secure the best and most expeditious means of giving effect to its intentions, namely the transfer to State ownership of all privately held commercial fisheries for salmon and trout.
I am giving close attention to this matter and I hope to be in a position to introduce the requisite amending legislation in the course of the present session.
