Vol. 129 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Army Pensioners' Allowances.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will consider raising the wife and children's allowance paid to ex-Army disability pensioners to bring these allowances more in keeping with the present cost of living.

The Deputy's question relates to the married pension payable under the Army Pensions Acts. The rate of married pension was increased in the 1943 and 1946 Army Pensions Acts, and the rate of disability pension was increased in the Army Pensions (Increase) Act, 1949.

I do not at present propose to introduce legislation as suggested by the Deputy.
