Vol. 129 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Quality of Off-Ration Butter.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware of the widespread complaints about the bad quality of the off-ration butter and if there are any steps he can take to remedy the situation.

Mr. Walsh

The issue of special wrappers for the sale of creamery butter outside the ration was discontinued in March, 1951. The only butter which can at present be legally sold off the ration is farmers' or factory butter, on the manufacture and distribution of which there are no controls. The amount of such butter which is sold by shops is small.
