Vol. 129 No. 8

- Land Acquisition and Afforestation.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the cause of the delay in the acquisition of Lappalagh common, County Mayo, by the Forestry Division for afforestation, and if he will give an approximate date on which he expects proceedings to terminate and possession to be taken.

The position here is still as indicated in my reply of the 14th November, 1951, to the Deputy. Agreement has been reached on the price but the vendor's solicitors have not yet proved title.

Am I to take it that the vendor's solicitor is responsible for the delay?

The Chief State Solicitor's Office has again issued a reminder to him.

asked the Minister for Lands whether any progress has yet been made in the acquisition of land for forestry in the Glengariff area, and what the present position is concerning Shelowell-White estate at Glengariff Demesne.

The only offer of land for forestry purposes in the Glengariff area at present being considered is that of the Shelowell-White estate. My Department has made an offer for the purchase of these lands but has not yet been advised whether the offer will be accepted.
