Vol. 129 No. 8

- North Mayo Coast Road.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the very poor condition of the north coast road in North Mayo, and that Córas Iompair Éireann had to withdraw their passenger and freight services on the road; and, if so, if he will make a sum available sufficient for steamrolling the road.

The maximum Road Fund grants available for 1952/53 for the Mayo County Council were notified to the council on the 18th instant. The selection of the works to be carried out with the aid of these grants is a matter primarily for the Mayo County Council.

Would the Minister or his Department have any objection to the local authority, namely, the Mayo County Council, spending money on a scheme for the north coast road? Would the Minister have any objection to that?

When any proposals are made to us we will state our attitude.
