Vol. 129 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Airfield.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether his attention has been drawn to a statement in the Cork press on 7th March that the Cambrian Air Services of Cardiff Airport are particularly interested in flying between either Cardiff or Haverford West Airport and Cork with the possibility of continuing to Killarney, if there are suitable aerodrome facilities and if, in view of the numerous flights which have been successfully carried out between cross-Channel airports and Cork, he will now facilitate this company by providing the Cork airfield with a licence, and thereby provide further facilities for tourists.

My attention has been drawn to the newspaper statement to which the Deputy refers. I am aware that the Cork airfield has been used by aircraft operating non-scheduled flights. The licence which has been issued in respect of the airfield allows the operation of such flights.
