Vol. 130 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Central Bank.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state (a) the names and addresses of the members of the Central Bank (b) when they were first appointed; (c) the number of meetings held by them yearly; (d) what are their functions, and (e) the salaries and expenses received by them.

The names of the members of the board of the Central Bank, the dates on which they were first appointed and information regarding their remuneration were given in reply to questions by Deputy O. Flanagan on 5th December, 1951. All the directors reside in Dublin except two, who reside in Cork and Enniscorthy respectively.

Meetings of the board of the Central Bank are held usually once a week but in addition there are many individual attendances at the bank of members of the board.

The functions of the board of the Central Bank are in accordance with the terms of the Central Bank Act, 1942.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary read out the names again?

These names will be found in the last reply which I gave on this matter.

The last Government appointed two-thirds of them so the Deputy should know who they are.

The Minister for External Affairs was not asked the question.
