Vol. 130 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Insurance on Taxis.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware of the very high charges being made upon taxi owners by insurance companies in respect of their vehicles; and, if so, what steps he proposes to take to prevent exploitation of such car owners.

The Prices Advisory Body are at present holding a public inquiry into motor insurance premiums generally, and I understand that evidence was given on behalf of a group of taxi owners that insurance premiums in respect of their vehicles had been increased to an excessive extent. The Prices Advisory Body will make its recommendation to me in due course.
