Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Acquisition and Division.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission have considered the propriety of acquiring the lands of Mr. George Lee, Roscahill, County Galway, for division among the uneconomic holders in the district; and, if so, with what result.

This estate cannot be identified from the information supplied.

asked the Minister for Lands what steps are being taken, if any, by the Land Commission to divide the Lynam estate, Brittas, County Dublin.

The Land Commission had an inspection made of this estate and decided not to take any action for the acquisition of the lands.

asked the Minister for Lands when it is proposed to divide the Remount Farm, Lusk, County Dublin.

The Land Commission are not in a position to acquire the lands in question. These lands are State property, and cannot be sold to the Land Commission pending the passing of enabling legislation.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission have considered the propriety of acquiring the McKenna and Counihan lands at Castledillon, Straffan, County Kildare, for division amongst local uneconomic holders and landless men; and, if so, with what result.

The Land Commission decided not to take any action for the acquisition of the Counihan estate. They have noted the other case for consideration.

asked the Minister or Lands if he will state the area of land which has been acquired from the Drogheda estate at or near Monasterevan, County Kildare; and, further, the amount involved of (a) arable land, (b) bog, and (c) land acquired for forestry purposes.

The Land Commission acquired 1,161 acres on this estate and allotted 609 acres for afforestation purposes. The balance of 552 acres comprises some 326 acres of high bog and 226 acres of mixed grazing land and cutaway.
