Dáil Éireann debate -
Tuesday, 8 Apr 1952

Vol. 130 No. 11

Order for Late Sitting.

I want to intervene to suggest that it is desirable to finish this debate to-night rather than to meet to-morrow. I wonder if the Dáil would agree to sit until 2 a.m. if necessary. I do not think it will be necessary but, if we can agree on that, we can carry on.

This is the final act in the incompetency of the Government owing to their not having their business ready when we met on the 31st January. When we met after the Christmas Recess the Government had no business ready, and they had to send us home again. If they had done their job at the proper time, there would not be this necessity to try to sandwich everything into one evening this week.

Ordered: That the Dáil sit later than 11 p.m. to-day, and that the Order for the Adjournment be taken not later than 2 a.m. to-morrow.
