Dáil Éireann debate -
Tuesday, 15 Jul 1952

Vol. 133 No. 7

Printing Stoppage—Statement by Ceann Comhairle

The House will observe that it was necessary to make a manuscript correction of an error in to-day's Order Paper. It will be understood that such is likely to occur whilst the present printing difficulties last, as proofs cannot be obtained for advance checking. Deputies will appreciate that during the strike, the official debates cannot be printed and circulated. Typescript copies will, however, be placed in the Library for reference.

Might I refer to the announcement that the Dáil debates will not be printed?

Typescript copies will be made available in the Library.

Surely it would be possible, by some of the rotary machines that are used for printing tourist journals and the External Affairs News Digest, to make the Dáil reports available in the same form?

We can get in touch with the appropriate offices and see if an arrangement can be made.

I take it that the matter will be examined immediately and if necessary referred to the Committee on Procedure and Privileges, with a view to safeguarding the privileges necessary for the proper conduct of the procedings of the Dáil.

The matter will be considered.
