Vol. 133 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Coal Storage at Cork.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state who negotiated the agreement whereby the price for storage of coal at Cork is £250 per acre per annum.

The agreement in question was negotiated between Fuel Importers (Éire) Ltd., and Henry Ford & Son, Ltd.

Does not the Minister consider £250 per acre per year for the storage of coal a most unreasonable price?

I am not in a position to offer any observation on the matter. I note that a similar price is being paid by private and commercial firms for sites in the same area.

I am not a bit impressed by that answer. The man who negotiated the price of £250 per acre per annum for the storage of that coal has no sense of responsibility to the people of Cork City and County.
