Vol. 133 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mitchelstown Sewerage Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has approved of the sewerage scheme for Mitchelstown.

As indicated in reply to the Deputy's question of the 9th instant the local authority has been informed that the lay-out plan submitted for the Mitchelstown sewerage scheme is generally in order from the technical point of view.

Is it a matter of finance between the committee of management and the local authority that the Minister's Department is taking exception to?

I have told the Deputy that the local authority has been informed that the lay-out plan submitted for the Mitchelstown sewerage scheme is generally in order from the technical point of view.

Last week the Minister mentioned that the contribution from the creamery was not considered sufficient by the Department. An honourable agreement was made between the local authority and the creamery. That agreement was ratified by the Minister's predecessor. A sum of £7,000 is a decent contribution from people who contribute in triplicate. They have contributed directly and they contribute by way of taxation.

Deputy Keane is making a speech.

I want to impress that point on the Minister.

This is a very wide question. I am sure the matters referred to can be discussed between the local authority and the other interests involved.
