Vol. 133 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Transport of Live Stock—Valentia Island.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware of the necessity for the safe and humane transport of live stock to and from Valentia Island and if, pending the erection of a viaduct, a generous grant will be made available for the purpose of supplying a suitable landing barge for the work.

I am not aware that difficulties connected with the transport of live stock to and from Valentia Island are of such dimensions as to call for the intervention of the Government. In any case, there are no funds at my disposal from which a grant could be made for the purpose mentioned in the question.
