Vol. 133 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tipperary County Hospital.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state the reason for the change of policy which has resulted in the transfer of medical and maternity cases, from the county hospital, Cashel, County Tipperary, to Clonmel hospital, as it appears unnecessary that there should be such a lowering of the status of the county hospital, where a modern operating theatre, and up-to-date X-ray equipment are available.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply yesterday to a somewhat similar question addressed to me by Deputy Davern.

In order to avoid possible misunderstandings in the future, I think I should mention that the proposed change in hospital arrangements will not involve any lowering of the status of the County Hospital, Cashel, and that the facilities for diagnosis and treatment at the Clonmel Hospital will be as good as they are at present at the Cashel Hospital.
