Vol. 133 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Discontinuance of Tuberculosis Allowance.

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware of the fact that a person in Newbridge, County Kildare, has been notified that his tuberculosis allowance of 7/- per week has been discontinued because of the fact that his national health insurance benefit was increased by 9/- per week, and if he will state whether this is in accordance with instructions issued by him.

I have ascertained that the facts are as stated in the first portion of the question.

No recent instruction has been issued by me in regard to abatement of maintenance allowances in respect of other income. I am considering the matter and will communicate with health authorities as soon as possible.
