Vol. 134 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Acquisition and Division.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state what is the present position regarding the acquisition and distribution of the Weldon estate at Kilmoroney, Athy, County Kildare.

Following the disposal of an objection to acquisition further negotiations were undertaken as to the area to be acquired. These were completed last month and the question of price has been taken up. If the proceedings are successfully completed before 31st March next it may be possible to allot the lands in the coming spring.

Will the Minister say whether it is now proposed to acquire the entire estate or only a portion of it, and, if so, what portion?

I think that the Deputy might perhaps put down a question on that.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the Land Commission have yet acquired the Dempsey lands at Donore, Caragh, County Kildare; and, if so, when the lands will be divided.

The acquisition proceedings in this case have not yet been completed but are in the final stage. It is expected that most of the lands will be allotted as soon as possession is obtained.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission have considered the question of acquiring for division the Giltrap lands at Elverstown, Ballymore Eustace, County Kildare; and, if so, with what result.

The Land Commission have no proceedings for the acquisition of these lands, but the case has been listed for consideration.
