Vol. 134 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Clogherinkoe National School.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state the present position regarding the provision of additional accommodation for children attending Clogherinkoe National School, County Kildare.

The question of the feasibility of erecting an additional classroom at Clogherinkoe National School, County Kildare, has been investigated, but I am advised that there are certain difficulties in the way of the extension of the school. The matter is receiving active attention.

I am advised that the old school adjoining the present school site could be utilised to accommodate some of the pupils, as a temporary arrangement, if some minor works were carried out to the building. My Department has sanctioned a grant towards the cost of these works.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary say what the amount of the grant is?

Mr. Lynch

I do not know whether I have the Minister's authority to disclose that. I think I can assure the Deputy that it will not involve a Supplementary Budget.

I want to test the adequacy of the reconstruction work. Is it substantial?

Mr. Lynch

If the Deputy asks the Minister that question perhaps he will disclose the amount.
