Vol. 134 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mooncoin Water Supply Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state on what date the Mooncoin regional water supply scheme was sanctioned and when he expects that work will commence on this scheme.

The preliminary plans submitted by the sanitary authority for the Mooncoin regional water supply scheme are under examination in the light of information recently furnished as to the capacity of the source to meet the estimated demand.

Observations arising out of this examination will be conveyed to the sanitary authority as soon as possible.

It is not possible to indicate when work will begin on the scheme.

Is the Minister aware that his colleague, the Minister for Agriculture, told the people a short time ago that this scheme was sanctioned?

That it was up for sanction.

He told them it was sanctioned. That appeared in the newspapers.

Mr. Walsh

A lot of things appear in newspapers that are not true.

Hear, hear! particularly in the Irish Press.

It would not be easy to give such an assurance since the date on which the latest information was received from the local authority concerned was the 13th of this month.
