Vol. 134 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cattle Export Licences.

andMr. J. Lynch (Kerry) asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that a resident of Birkenhead, who is the most extensive buyer of Kerry bullocks, was required to appoint agents in this country to export cattle on his behalf because he was not himself an Irish national and that the licences issued to these agents have expired; and, if so, if he will have a licence issued to the newly appointed agent in order that the highest available prices may be obtained by the producers of Kerry cattle.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative and the second part does not, therefore, arise. No licence is required for the export of live cattle to Britain and dressed beef may be exported by persons duly registered for that purpose under the Agricultural Produce (Fresh Meat) Acts.
