Vol. 134 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Potato Buying.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that some potato buyers did not take any potatoes from small farmers and conacre tenants last year; and, if so, if he will take steps to ensure that such a situation will not be allowed to develop this season.

Mr. Walsh

I am not aware of any particular instances and if the Deputy will furnish details I shall take the matter up with the Irish Potato Marketing Company.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will recommend to the Potato Marketing Company that a fair allocation of quotas be given to all potato buyers.

Mr. Walsh

I am satisfied that the Irish Potato Marketing Company have done and will do their best to allocate quotas equitably.
