Vol. 134 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Laoighis and Offaly Surplus Barley and Oats.

Mr. Flanagan

asked the Minister for Agriculture what steps he proposes to take to provide a market for the surplus barley and oats which farmers in County Laoighis and County Offaly are unable to dispose of locally.

Mr. Walsh

So far as I am aware, farmers who are prepared to sell their barley at a price related to its value as a feeding stuff have no difficulty in finding a market. As regards oats, the market has shown an improving tendency and I do not consider that official intervention is called for.
