Vol. 134 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sponsored Programmes.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware of the low standard of music presented in sponsored programmes on Radio Éireann between 1 p.m. and 2.30 p.m.; and, if so, if he will take steps to ensure that a better standard is maintained.

Since I became Minister I have been giving particular attention to sponsored programme standards. I feel that there has been a measure of improvement. I shall continue my efforts to ensure that these programmes will maintain a satisfactory level.

Would the Minister say if these programmes are presented at the entire discretion of the sponsors?

The station exercises a degree of censorship upon the programmes.

Question Nos. 80 to 84, inclusive, postponed.
