Vol. 134 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Donegal and Army Garrison.

asked the Minister for Defence if it is proposed to station any permanent garrison of Regular Army troops in County Donegal; and, if so, the strength and location of such garrison.

Apart from Fort Dunree, where a military care and maintenance party is being retained, it is not intended to station any permanent garrison of Regular Army troops in County Donegal.

A small number of military personnel is also retained at Finner Camp outside the annual training period. This camp, which is the main training centre of the Western Command for carrying out annual training and firing of range practices, is opened each year during the spring and summer when it is occupied by Regular Army troops and members of the Reserve.
