Vol. 134 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fish Prices.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he has yet received any report from the Prices Advisory Tribunal in reference to the price of fish; and, if not, whether he will arrange to have the consideration of the matter expedited.

I have not yet received the report of the Prices Advisory Body in reference to the price of fish. I am informed, however, that it is the intention of the Prices Advisory Body to submit their report at an early date.

Can the Minister say when the matter was submitted to them?

They held a public inquiry in June last, and I gather that they have been pursuing their investigations since. I understand that the matter is still under consideration by them, and that a report is likely to come soon.

Will the Minister not agree that the time taken appears to be excessive?

It depends entirely on the complexity of the question which they are examining.

It looks like a red herring all right.
