Vol. 135 No. 3

Committee on Finance. - Ministerial and Parliamentary Offices (Amendment) Bill, 1952—Money Resolution.

I move:—

That it is expedient to authorise such charges on and payments out of the Central Fund or the growing produce thereof as are necessary to give effect to any Act of the present session to amend the Ministerial and Parliamentary Offices Acts, 1938 to 1949.

Perhaps, I should on the Money Resolution take the opportunity of explaining what this Bill will cost. The purpose of the resolution is, of course, to authorise the payment out of the Central Fund of the pensions provided for under the Bill to certain persons who held ministerial office under the First Dáil Éireann or the widows of such persons and the widows of other persons who have subsequently held ministerial office. The actual cost of these pensions will depend on the number of persons who apply but we estimate that it will not exceed £2,800.

Question agreed to.

Resolution reported and agreed.
