Vol. 135 No. 3

Committee on Finance. - Local Government (Remission of Rates) Bill, 1952—Second and Subsequent Stages.

I move that the Bill be now read a Second Time. This Bill proposes to extend to 31st March, 1953, the period within which the erection, enlargement or improvement of the residences defined must be completed in order to qualify for the two-thirds remission of rates for five years provided by the Local Government (Remission of Rates) Act, 1940, as extended by the Local Government (Remission of Rates) Act, 1951. The principle of the Bill has been approved by the House on several occasions and there is no change in its provisions.

This is purely an extending Bill and in the circumstances we are agreeable to its passing.

Question put and agreed to.
Bill passed through Committee, reported without amendment, received for final consideration and passed.
